Forest 0 Addicks 0
I've listened to my mate who was up at the City Ground (in the home end), I've listened to Pardew and Colin Calderwood and I have to be pleased with the result. That means we have now played Swansea, Doncaster and Forest and gained 7 points, a positive improvement on the results last season against the promoted sides.
I was following the game via the text 'commentary' and was also part of the virtual away end on Charlton Life and during the game I was swinging between two different mindsets. The first was that Forest have the worse defensive record in the division and we should have lined up more offensively and my second line of thought was that the City Ground is a hard place to go, and they certainly had something to prove after just one league win all season. Hence their excellent beginning to the game.
Certainly a 4-5-1 has proven successful in the past on the road and I think today it allowed us not only to defend in numbers but with Varney as the sole striker we could work the channels more and find a bit more space to exploit. We certainly sounded the stronger side in the 2nd half and only a
"world class save" prevented us from winning.
Overall a good point and added to the three from Tuesday it equals a very good week for the Addicks.
