Southampton 2 Charlton 3
Last night I was in the company of a very old mate and a lifelong Southampton fan, he is also very well connected within the club, safe to say we didn't dwell too long on the depressing topic of football. However as we said our goodbyes I actually said to him that I hope they'd beat us today. Now I have been at St Mary's and witnessed a bit of argy bargy and I think Rupert Lowe is a cock, and in my defence I had demolished a fair amount of wine, so this morning I woke wondering if I really did want us to lose.
Following my tennis game being cancelled due to the rain I settled down in front of the laptop and CAFC TV and I jumped up in the air when Jonjo scored. Phew, I thought I'm still in love and how nice it was to win.
It sounded a great game, ably assisted by a decent match commentator and I followed my Jonjo celebration with similiar and progressively louder ones for Racon and Bailey's goals although I grimaced at talk of
"survival still being on."For the first time is absolutely ages I was nervous at the end desperate for us to hold on, and we did and it felt good. I was at St Mary's last season for a game that was one of the few highlights and I'm delighted for the 886 that were there to witness a rare victory.
Bailey, Racon and Shelvey should be quite a force in Div 3, what are our chances of them beginning next season with us? And one whinge why did a striker take our first penalty for 10 years? Everyone knows our forwards don't score goals. I'll be at The Valley next week, lets hope we can transfer some of our recent away form home. Charlton till I die.
